Whole ripe elderberries, which have gone from green to reddish purple to almost black, have long been used to make pies, pastries, jams, jellies, wine, cordials and syrup. The dried berries are also added to tea blends.
Tea Brewing Instructions: Start with cold, fresh water. Preheat teapot. Cooling of the water results in a weak brew. Use approx. 3 grams of tealeaves for 6 oz water. Use ½ oz tea leaves per quart. For tea, steep 4 minutes. Pour over tea or herbal. Do not boil botanicals when making tea.
